I'm not teaching this because I studied it in a textbook. I'm teaching this because I spent years refusing to accept that nobody could explain what was happening in my own body.

During that journey, I was also diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, an autoimmune thyroid condition that had been missed by doctor after doctor because the right tests were never run. It wasn't the only thing driving my symptoms, but finding it mattered enormously. Not just for my health, but because it showed me how much can be missed when we only ask the standard questions.
